Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I sign up for lessons?
Enrolling is easy. You can click here and fill out our registration form and we will contact you about available times shortly. Or you can call 618-233-0659 (Belleville) or 618-526-7588 (Breese) and sign up via phone. We can also register over email at contact@melodicrhythms.com
How much do lessons cost?
Lesson prices vary depending on several factors. Please fill out the Registration Form and we can give you a quote, or call 618-233-0659 (Belleville) or 618-526-7588 (Breese).
Is there an enrollment fee?
No. Enrollment is free.
How long am I obligated for the lessons?
Lessons are month-to-month and paid for a month in advance. There is no obligation past one month.
What do I need to start lessons?
This varies by the lesson that you want. Most lessons require that you have an instrument of your own. If you do not, we do have rentals for almost every instrument available.
Drummers do not need anything but drumsticks. Piano students are not required to have a piano. Voice students have no requirements to start
All students will work from instruction books and these books are available at Melodic Rhythms. The teacher will decide which book is best for the student at the first lesson. Most books range from $5-$15
When are lessons available?
Lessons are given throughout the entire year and can be entered into at any time. The normal hours of operation for lessons are Monday through Friday 2:00pm - 9:00pm and 9:00am - 4:00pm on Saturdays. We do have lessons at times outside of this range but you will need to call to schedule.
What is your lesson cancellation policy
Cancellations should be made as far in advance as possible by calling the studio. No credits are given for student cancellations. A make-up lesson may be offered by Melodic Rhythms to the student if certain guidelines are met. A minimum one day notice of the cancellation is required to receive a make-up or rescheduled lesson. In extreme circumstances, such as a family emergency, illness, or hazardous weather conditions, a four hour notice is acceptable. Once a make-up lesson is deemed to be valid, the lesson must be within one week of the cancelled lesson. After this one-week period, the make-up lesson is forfeited If cancellations and reschedules are deemed excessive by Melodic Rhythms, the offer of reschedules may be rescinded and no more will be offered. In the event of a teacher cancellation, a make-up lesson will be given. The make-up window for this is one month. There are no make-ups or reschedules for no call, no show lessons. Students who drop out are not entitled to a refund.
What payment methods are acceptable for lessons?
Payment methods vary for each location but cash and checks are acceptable at both studios. Lessons are paid for on a monthly basis in advance. The payment should be made on the last week of the month for the following month's lessons. The lesson prices cover both the 4 week and 5 week months. Bounced checks will be charged a $15 fee for each failed attempt. The system of monthly payments is designed to guarantee the instructor a steady, fair wage and to ensure a qualified instructor on a consistent basis.
What ages are students able to start lessons?
Students can begin lessons at varying ages. Violin, piano, and percussion lessons can begin as early as age 4 or 5. Voice lessons can begin at 5 also. Guitar lessons do not have a start age per se'. Guitar lessons require dexterity from the student's hand and fingers to hold the strings. This is not usually a problem by the age of 7 but younger students can develop this dexterity with the Ukulele. For students 4 and under, we do offer the Mini Melodies class with a beginning age of 6 months.
Can I take more than one half-hour lesson a week?
Yes. You are free to book as many lessons as you'd like and hour lessons are available.
Do you offer a multi-lesson/multi-student discount?
Sadly, we do not. We are very fortunate to have the most amazing musicians and teachers at our studios. They have limited availability and cannot offer a discount because of the limited times they have available for lessons.
Do you offer a military discount?
Yes we do. We proudly support our military and their families. We offer a free lesson with enrollment to all military and their families.
Does Melodic Rhythms purchase used instruments?
Yes we do. Bring it in and we'll be happy to look it over for you.
